Charles Veley is the World’s Most Traveled Person, and the Founder of MostTraveledPeople.com.
In January 2000, following a successful career in computer software, Charles set out with his wife Kimberly for a year abroad to satisfy his wanderlust. However, 12 months on the road only added fuel to the fire. He has kept going ever since, along the way earning honorary degrees in hotel staffing, visas and immigration, and around-the-world tickets.
Charles has visited 709, or 94%, of the 757 distinct territories of the world, more than anyone in history. He is never happier than emerging from 3rd world wilderness to meet the locals over a beer. Kimberly, having run a small luxury hotel in San Francisco, keeps Charles honest, insisting on more upmarket standards when they travel together.
Charles's goal is to go 'Everywhere,' which at a minimum means every country, territory, major state, enclave, and island group in the world, as voted by the members of MTP. He also aspires to visit every UNESCO World Heritage Site on Earth. Charles truly believes that beauty and friendship is most often found in unexpected places.
Charles has been featured on “The Today Show,” CNBC’s “Kudlow & Company,” The Travel Channel, and in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, San Francisco Chronicle, New Orleans Times-Picayune, London Daily Telegraph, and many other publications. Charles holds a degree in Computer Science from Harvard University, and lives in San Francisco with his wife and 3 children under 6 years old.
